Project Overview
The Health Management Information System (HMIS) is a digital platform designed to manage patient records, hospital operations, and healthcare data efficiently. The existing system faced several usability and workflow challenges that made it difficult for healthcare staff to manage patient information quickly and accurately.
The goal of this project was to redesign the application to create a more intuitive, efficient, and user-friendly experience for hospital staff, including administrators, doctors, and data operators. The redesigned system focuses on improving accessibility of patient records, simplifying complex workflows, and ensuring faster data entry and retrieval.
By improving the user interface and optimizing the overall user experience, the redesigned HMIS helps healthcare professionals manage patient data more effectively while reducing operational delays and errors.
Problem Statement
The existing HMIS application had several issues that affected productivity and usability:
The interface was cluttered and difficult to navigate.
Patient data was scattered across multiple screens.
Searching and filtering patient records was slow and inefficient.
Users required multiple steps to complete simple tasks such as updating patient information.
The system lacked a clear information hierarchy, which made it harder for staff to locate important data quickly.

Simplified Navigation
The navigation structure was redesigned to ensure that users could easily access key sections such as patient records, appointments, reports, and administrative tools. A clear sidebar navigation system was introduced to organize the application’s main features.
Improved Information Architecture
Patient information was reorganized into structured sections, allowing users to quickly view essential details such as personal information, medical history, and appointment records.
Streamlined Workflows
Common tasks such as patient registration, record updates, and searching for patient information were simplified by reducing the number of steps required to complete these actions.
Consistent UI Design
A consistent design system was applied across the application to ensure uniform layouts, typography, colors, and components. This consistency helps users understand the interface more quickly and reduces confusion.
